What does a Yoga Therapy session look like?

Yoga Therapy is highly creative, meeting your individual needs in the moment. While not exact, you can start to think of yoga therapy as traditional talk therapy meets physical therapy, using the tools of yoga all the time.

Expect a thorough intake process prior to your first visit to understand your current lifestyle, physical health, and emotional well-being, as well as your goals for yoga therapy. Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

No two sessions are ever the same as no day is ever the same, and YOU are constantly evolving. Here’s a glimpse of what we might do in a session:

  • Checking in with conversation and breath awareness

  • Physical movement, like yoga postures and somatic based movements to help ease tension in the body

  • Discussion

  • Meditation and visualization to facilitate further healing

  • Personalized plans for practice in between sessions

Yoga therapy meets you wherever you are on any given day. I do not diagnose, treat, or cure, but rather facilitate your own innate ability to heal. We may spend our time on a yoga mat, seated in chairs, or working together via Zoom. It’s wherever your comfort lies in that day.

First Name:

*Please note: The vast majority of Leanne’s clients are seen via Zoom online. For in person one:one work, Leanne will travel within 20 minutes of her residence in Rhode Island. While in person work is certainly beneficial, healing is healing and online work can provide tremendous support.

A Yoga Therapy approach first begins with the belief that you are not broken. You are already whole, and your body wants to find its way back to wellness. In fact, it knows it can.

Yoga Therapy is a full bodied approach toward whole being wellness. I believe that we cannot isolate the body from the mind or vice versa, because the needs of both are deeply intertwined. I believe in supporting your body, mind, and your heart using the tools of yoga to guide you back towards wholeness.

I believe that yoga therapy is lifestyle medicine that benefits you wherever you are, however old you are, and whenever you need it.
