Hello hello hello!
Today’s the day we unveil something new! I don’t know how we’ve been keeping this a secret for so long, but after months and months and months, we’re sharing Yoga Dear’s new look! What does that mean? It means Yoga Dear has a new logo. It means that the website is changed around quite a bit with new fonts & colors, tabs & information. It means that with this new look, we are also unveiling a new direction.
Why the new look?
#1. It’s time - FOUR years have gone by since I wrote the business plan for the brick + mortar studio and we were in need of a refresh. #2. Yoga Dear has grown in dimensions I hadn’t expected and in ways I love - it’s time to have a imagery that reflects that.
Here, we deeply honor the philosophy of yoga and celebrate how nature is reflected within. We’ve grown to include Yoga Dear Mama [to support pregnant and postpartum mothers], the yoga writings and teachings have reached much further than I could possibly imagine, and I’ve fallen in love with immersive yoga training. Our new logo takes all of these elements in. The “deer” in both of our new logos - for Yoga Dear + Yoga Dear Mama - are a nod to our roots in central PA with a more modern approach.
What else is new?
A giant shift in perspective. It’s true that there is change happening here, and [before you squirm] change is a GOOD thing. YogaDear.com will now be home to continued [and expanded] blog content for you to study and learn about practical ways to incorporate yogic philosophy into your everyday. The site includes a special section to support women moving towards and into motherhood, using yogic philosophy as a guide. You’ll see this when you visit.
My goal is to make my online home a welcoming space for even more to understand yoga’s many layers with asana (postures) being one of them. To practice yoga is to practice all of the layers - the lifestyle, the breathing techniques, movement, and meditation. Here, I’ll also be chronicling my journey into deeper studies of yoga traditions as well as sharing some other extra special projects we’re cooking up. Think of this as a step into my [virtual] living room. You’re always welcome!
So, how will we interact?
In much of the same ways. I’ll still be writing to you each week. I’m also sharing services that have been on my heart for a long, long time, but I’ll be honest…I was too chicken to share. Yoga and Yoga Therapy have been HUGE healers for me - for anxiety, for getting to the root cause of stress, for understanding how all of that mental tension was showing up as physical dis-ease. I know they will be for you, too. More to come, but for now you can check out the Work With Leanne tab on the website.
Please note this is a giant step in a new direction. Will studio news still be covered here? Yes, absolutely, but Yoga Dear is meant to serve anyone who is interested in how yogic philosophy can intersect with/support their physical/mental/spiritual health. I’m ready to dive into some serious depths with principles like the Yamas + Niyamas, establishing a home practice, helping women understand and embrace their bodies, and supporting deep rest and sleep. I hope you’ll join me. And, if this isn’t your thing, I get it. You can totally unsubscribe. But, if you’re are nodding along with me and excited to be a part of this leap, please know I’m sending you a giant hug.
I woke up the other day (after weeks of confusion) knowing that regardless of what happens in my life, I want to dedicate a huge part of it to learning/understanding/teaching/spreading the philosophical teachings of yoga and how it can truly lead to freedom, health, and whole being wellness. I would do this work if no one read. If no one took class with me. But, gosh is it sweeter with a community to hold hands with (even if from afar).
Thank you for being here.
P.S. To celebrate the new look and new directions, I have a SURPRISE for you! Did you know that Private Yoga sessions are a thing? Even over a Zoom call? Even across many, many states? Because Private Yoga, at least with me, isn’t about how many poses we can do in an hour. It’s more-so learning about what’s going on in your life, what questions you have about yoga, and putting together the jigsaw pieces - breathwork, meditation techniques, and a little bit of asana - to help you design a home yoga practice rooted in feeling BETTER (physically and mentally).
So! I’m doing a giveaway (see below) to TWO Yoga Dear readers to kick-off our new directions. When you forward one of these Yoga Dear letters to a friend, screenshot it/forward me the message. I’ll pick two readers to have TWO free 45 minute Private Yoga sessions with me. If you’re in Providence - awesome. We can meet in person. If you’re elsewhere - we’ll meet via Zoom. In your sessions, we’ll discuss any stressors that have come up in your life, how your physical body is feeling, what you hope to get out of a yoga practice, and specific postures that will support your body.
Note: This is where my career counseling former life and yoga worlds collide. Note: I will not diagnose mentally or physically. Note: Remember, yoga is a tool you can use on your own healing journey. It’s practice is magic. Sometimes, we just need a little personal guidance. Okay! Here we go! [Contest starts TODAY - December 6, 2018 - and ends in 5 days! Each unique referral to this newsletter is worth one entry.]
