2017 has been a BIG year so far. Our sweet studio celebrated its one year anniversary this past January, I became personally certified in Pre/Postnatal Yoga (that exam was no joke), we’ve put together two sold out retreats, and the Yoga Dear hubs & I had a pretty amazing little guy in July (probably the biggest thing ever). But, there’s one more piece of news we haven’t shared quite yet...
You guys, Yoga Dear is now a Registered Yoga School!
What does that mean? Oh, my dear friends, this means that we are launching our very first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program in February 2018 (accredited with Yoga Alliance),and I can’t wait for you to come along on this incredible journey. And, trust me, it will be transformative, life-changing, eye-opening.
How can I promise this? Because I’ve been through it before...make that three times before. You see, yoga grabbed a hold of me back when I was living in DC, a 20-something former dancer trying to figure out her purpose and how to cope with crippling anxiety. And, I mean crippling - panic attacks on the metro were a serious thing for awhile.
I started doing yoga on my lunch break there to learn how to cope, then became a certified kids yoga teacher, and upon moving to PA, my practice continued. I started teaching kiddos and adults alike, and finally thought I should be a leeetle more legit. So I found a 200 hour yoga teacher training program and I wrote to them expressing my interest. A woman named Carla called me to talk about it, and then I got scared. I tried to say it wasn’t a good time to start a 200 hour program. I tried to say, “but I’m getting married in two weeks.” And, Carla said, “Leanne, there’s never a good time.” And, she was so, so right. So, I signed up, and I’m beyond grateful for that phone call, because I found that there’s never a perfect time to start a journey that will change the path of your entire life.
And, gosh, it sure did. I learned more about myself over six months than I ever had before. And, through that I learned to connect deeply with others. I learned about a style of living that had been whispering to me for years (hello 8-limbs of yoga). Oh, and yea, I learned how to teach a warm, intelligent, and kick-butt yoga class.
Now, after months over preggo months of writing and making plans for our very own yoga school, I’m ecstatic to share this experience with you. Are you ready? Our 200 Hour Teacher Training Program is perfect for you if:
- You’re curious & eager to embark on a learning experience steeped in yoga philosophy, psychology, & movement
- Yoga has moved you in ways that are hard to describe
- You want to deepen your understanding of the practice
- You'd like to teach yoga, a practice that goes way beyond the physical
- You're ready to commit to 200 hours of learning, reading, practice, and community
- You want to develop a better connection with your Self & tap into your own inner wisdom
- You value relationships (we hug often, get breakfast together, and bring chocolate just because)
Our teacher training journey will start in February 2018, and upon successful completion, you can register with Yoga Alliance to teach. Or not. You can simply take this knowledge all in for yourself. You do you. Interested to learn more? Read all about what we’re studying HERE. For this year, we’ll only be taking a very limited amount of happy yoga students, so please express your interest early.
If you know me, you know that teaching yoga for me is so much more than how many poses we do in a class or the absolute correct version of Warrior 1. It’s learning to go deep within for the answers. It’s learning to live a life aligned with your true values, to follow curiosities, and to give that gift to others. I can’t wait to hear from you. Please send me any and all questions, or stop me in the studio after class and we’ll chat.
